Go and be
After Jesus had risen victoriously from the grave, and before he ascended into heaven, he gathered his disciples together to give them some final instructions. We find his words recorded in the book of Matthew 28:18-20, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commnded you."
These words, know as "The Great Commission," serve as spiritual marching orders for all Christians throughout all time. Here at Epic, we believe that when Jesus said "Go" he really meant it. And while we are serious about teaching people to be obedient disciples, we truly desire for Epic to be a "Go and be" church and not a "Come and see" church. Therefore, we are committed to "going out" into our community and the world in order to reach those who are far from Christ and help them come to salvation through Jesus Christ.
With this in mind we have divided our missions focus into two main areas. The first is Local Outreach where we intentionally focus on reaching out to the residents of the Queen Creek/San Tan Community. This area includes The Epic Food Mission, Walker Butte School, Local Church Planting, Christian Mentors Network, individual members of Epic who are involved in local missions, as well as other ministry endeavors that God leads us into (such as Compassion Queen Creek).
The second area is Global Outreach where we seek to fulfill the Great Commission in other parts of the world. This area includes direct support of full-time missionaries, support of congregational members involved in global missions activity, global church planting, and other missions opportunities that God brings our way.
Each of these two areas are supported by the tithes of our members. Currently 10% of our overall budget is dedicated to Global Missions, Local Outreach, and benevolence.
