About Us

Life is
better together!

Welcome to Epic Christian Church, a vibrant faith community rooted in the heart of Florence, Arizona. Founded in 2005 with a vision for biblical teaching and authentic connection, our journey began as a portable congregation before finding our home in Magma Ranch. We are proud of our heritage in the Restoration Movement, which continues to shape our commitment to spiritual growth, community service, and sharing the Gospel.

Today, under the leadership of Lead Pastor Jim Herzberg, we remain dedicated to our simple yet profound mission: loving God, loving others, and making disciples. Whether you are a long-time believer or just beginning to explore your faith, you’ll find a warm, welcoming environment where you can grow alongside others. We believe in the power of unity and the impact of kindness, and we invite you to join us as we seek to glorify God through worship and outreach.

We can’t wait to meet you!

What Drives Us

Our Core Values

These aren't just words on a wall — they are the operating system of everything we do at Epic Church.

Persistent and Expectant Prayer

We embrace a Holy Spirit-led, slowed-down spirituality so that we can be spiritually and emotionally healthy. We practice habits of grace (spiritual disciplines) like prayer, confession and repentance, fasting, silence and solitude, listening and Sabbath so that we can abide deeply with Christ. We believe that God cherishes our prayers and wants to hear and answer them.

Rooted and Saturated in Scripture

We believe that God's Word was inspired by the Holy Spirit and written down by ~40 human authors over a period of ~1,500 years and preserved in 66 Books of the Protestant Bible. The Bible is God's special revelation (Creation being general revelation). In its original languages of Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic, it is without error, infallible, complete and sufficient. It is the supreme and final authoritative rule for all matters of faith and practice in every aspect of life. We believe that engaging with the Scriptures daily and obeying God is vital to our lifelong formation into spiritual maturity.

Disciple-making Priority

Our number one purpose, both individually and as a church, after giving glory to God and enjoying Him above all things, is to make disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus. Compelled by Jesus' love for us and the Great Commandment, we obey Jesus' command in the Great Commission. We follow His example of how to disciple others through investing in intentional relationships, the truth of the Word and a lot of grace. Disciple-making happens in everyday life, NOT as an add on to our already busy lives or through a church program. We create intentional discipleship environments to help us become people of love. The fruit of the Spirit is evidence of our growth as we abide with Jesus and help each other move from unbelief to belief in the Gospel in every area of our lives.

Extended Family

As a church, we are an extended spiritual family on God's mission! Bound together by Christ's shed blood, and characterized by sacrificial love, we care for each other in practical ways. Hospitality in our homes and shared meals help us build and maintain healthy relationships. We invest in prayer, resources and equipping to help families thrive. We are a multigenerational family where everyone is included. We laugh and have fun together; our joy in the LORD is uncontainable! We fight for and protect the unity of Christ's body. We describe our church as "intimate, not small."

Kingdom-minded

God is a going and sending God! Made in His image, we make a tangible difference both locally and globally, with every believer being called, gifted, equipped and deployed to participate in God's mission. Multiplication is in our DNA. We are both a gathered and sending church that multiplies believers, leaders, Discipleship Environments, other ministries inside and outside the church and plants new churches (stateside and overseas). We increase our impact by partnering with other churches and organizations to meet physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

Radically Generous

With God's money, our God-given talents, our time and other resources, including uncommon hospitality. We live out the "Priesthood of all believers." The Staff's job is to equip the congregation and help people find their passion, gifting and calling. EVERYONE serves—on Sundays/Thursdays or in outside ministries! Jesus was radically generous, so we follow His example and commands.
